Open season on managers too?

I was waiting for this. Earlier this morning - after the headlines reporting Patricia Hewitt's claim that the NHS had enjoyed its best year ever and the subsequent backlash from the nurses and unions - BBC Radio 4 news ran a feature on NHS managers. Well, actually, the fact that there were too many of them; one thousand more have joined the fray this year apparently.

I could say a lot more about the appropriateness of the claim but it's a huge subject and one that couldn't be done justice to in a single post. Suffice it to say, I expect to hear more. When it comes to job losses, in terms of public sympathy, there's no competition between a manager and a nurse...
