Orion to buy Microsoft Amalga HIS

Orion Health is to buy Microsoft’s Amalga hospital information system and RIS/PACS assets to address the needs of the Asia Pacific hospital market.

In in a parallel agreement, Orion Health and Microsoft have agreed to collaborate to provide health information exchange solutions to the global ehealth market. Orion Health CEO Ian McCrae said the acquisition was a major milestone in the company’s vision to develop a next-generation suite of eHealth technologies that enable patient engagement in their own care. The new software will complement the company’s existing range of clinical workflow and data integration applications.
