Orthopaedic implants market will grow

9th June 2010

Arthritis Research UK has warned that a rise in obesity, leading to an increase in the projected numbers of people with osteoarthritis, would mean a vastly increased demand for more effective, less invasive treatments in future years.

It comes as a new report suggests that the global orthopaedic implants market, driven by an ageing population, sedentary lifestyle and technological advances, will grow to £29 billion by 2016. Analysts say the market will grow annually by 7.8% as more and more people have operations on their joints.
