Parking fees at hospitals

30th July 2007

Car parking charges have been introduced at four hospital sites in Glasgow for the first time.

Units affected are the Western Infirmary, the Yorkhill Hospitals, the Victoria Infirmary and Gartnavel General Hospital with the maximum daily charge set at £7, though this was reduced from £12 after a review. The minimum charge is £1 for two hours. Staff, visitors and patients are affected in what Unison described as “a tax on the sick.? Charging at further hospital sites are likely to be introduced later this year.
