Patients not being offered choice

14th October 2008

According to referral figures for June 2008, less than half of patients said they remembered being given a choice of which hospital they could be treated at by their GP.

46% of patients said they were given a choice - a decrease from 47% since the last survey was carried out in March. In 2006, when the initial survey was performed, the figure was 30%. Funds available for the Choose and Book system were terminated in March 2008.
