Patients to have more choice

19th October 2010

Government proposals have set out the possibility of GPs being contractually obliged to provide choices to their patients from April next year.

The proposals also raised the idea of hospitals offering appointments to their patients for specific consultants and their teams. Health secretary Andrew Lansley said: "Patients and service users should be in control and involved as much as they want to be in every decision about what, where, how and from whom they want to receive care."
