Patients urged to quiz GPs

18th October 2007

The DoH has published a leaflet to aid patients in asking questions about their treatment during a visit to the doctor.

The leaflet, designed to help patients if they do not understand what their GP has told them during their consultation, is due to be sent out to all GP surgeries by the end of this month. It gives patients a guide detailing which questions might be useful for patients to consider asking. It also prompts patients to ask questions about tests and treatment, including possible side effects.

Patients are encouraged to write down their questions and make notes during their consultation.
