Pensioners asked to donate winter fuel allowance

Elderly people who are not reliant on winter fuel payments are receiving encouragement to give them to charity. 

An appeal set up by the Somerset Community Foundation has prompted a spate of similar appeals. The money is given to local charities who work with pensioners who need help, including Accessible Transport West Somerset, which runs a low-cost transport scheme in the region.
