Pill protects against cancer

4th August 2008

According to researchers at the University of Aberdeen, their 36-year study has shown that the pill lessens the danger of developing cancer.

The study looked at 46,000 pill users from the 1960s to 2004 and found there was a 12% decrease in all types of cancer in women who took the contraceptive. Researcher Philip Hannaford said: "The overall message is that women should not be frightened of the pill...this is a very effective and safe method of contraception, especially when combined with regular cervical cancer screening."
