PMS and e-prescribing integrated

15th September 2011

NHS Ayrshire and Arran, the first Scottish health board to implement electronic prescribing, is now working to integrate the system with its new patient management system.

It first implemented JAC’s electronic prescribing and medicines administration system into Ayr Hospital in 2001 and in the last decade has expanded the system to cover all inpatient prescribing, medicines administration, discharge letters and functions in pre-admissions. For that roll-out to be complete, the board has only to implement prescribing for high risk medicines and variable rate infusions.
