Polyclinics for all PCTs

8th February 2008

The Department of Health wants to see every primary care trust opening up a polyclinic by the end of the year.

Initially, the 38 PCTs that had the worst provision of GPs in England were to have polyclinics as well as anything up to three new GP surgeries. But the Department of Health has now revised its position. The change comes, despite the concerns of GPs who fear that nearby practices may lose patients to polyclinics placing their viability under threat.
