Postcode lottery for stroke patients
18th January 2011The Care Quality Commission (CQC) have warned that stroke patients are given "patchy" care and are the victims of a postcode lottery.
Their report, Supporting Life After Stroke, highlighted "wide levels of variation" in care across England. CQC chief executive Cynthia Bower said the variety in care was a "concern". She added: "Stroke is the single largest cause of disability in adults and our evidence shows that early access to intense rehabilitation is beneficial to people’s recovery."
