Practices' 0845 number now free

12th January 2009

BT will stop charging patients a fee to call 0845 telephone lines for GP practices from Friday, 16 January.

Over 1,000 practices are connected to the 0845 numbers, which can charge patients up to 5.8p per minute. Ceri Stanaway, a researcher at consumer group Which?, said the fees will still be charged to people who call from non-BT networks or particular BT packages.
