Pregnant women 'smoke tests'

20th February 2008

Expectant mothers in Warwickshire are to be given breath tests to assess the effect smoking is having on their health and that of their babies.

Warwickshire Primary Care Trust has announced that midwives in the north of the county will begin to test the women’s carbon monoxide levels after it emerged that the number of women who smoked in that part of Warwickshire was above the national average. Pregnant women with harmful levels in their body would be given support to stop smoking.
