Private health scan warning

Health experts have said that private medical tests carried out on patients could worry them needlessly and might be pointless.

Around 75,000 people in the UK have signed up to an American service for tests for heart disease and other conditions - many after receiving letters from the Life Line Screening company. The British Heart Foundation says that the Life Line Screening test for finding the danger of stroke shows "insufficient evidence that it is an appropriate screening test... in symptom-less individuals".
