Proposed transfer of Barking & Dagenham community health services to North East London Foundation Trust

26th May 2009

The Co-operation and Competition Panel (CCP) is to examine the proposed transfer of
NHS Barking & Dagenham’s community health services business to North East London
Foundation Trust.

NHS Barking & Dagenham plans to transfer its community health services business to
North East London Foundation Trust for a two year period prior to retendering its
community health services contracts.

The CCP will examine the costs and benefits of the proposed transfer under its merger
guidelines to assess whether it could be expected to have an adverse effect on patients
or taxpayers.

In doing so, the CCP will consider the transaction’s effect on patient choice and
competition for community health services contracts in Barking & Dagenham and the
wider area.

The CCP would like to hear from interested individuals and organisations, in writing, by
9 June 2009. To submit evidence please email barkingnelft@ccpanel.gsi.gov.uk.
