Protests over hospital cuts

16th October 2006

Weeks before the start of a planned consultation on the configuration of hospital services across Sussex, thousands of residents have joined protest rallies campaigning against planned cuts across the NHS.

About 7,000 people alone joined a protest march in Haywards Heath and there were similar demonstrations in Brighton. Sussex was highlighted earlier this year as having the highest level of NHS debt in the country and residents are concerned this will inevitably lead to hospital closures in the county.
