Public give views on care and support

28th October 2008

Londoners were able to speak to Care Services Minister Phil Hope about what they thought should happen in the future for elderly care services in the NHS.

In 20 years there will be more than 1 million people aged over 65 residing in the capital. Phil Hope said: "At the turn of the century there were 19 people working for every one retired. That number has now decreased to four working for every one retired. It's vital I discuss, with the public how we can create a high quality, affordable care and support system for a rapidly ageing population."
