Public holiday opening for GPs?

NHS24, Scotland's 24-hour helpline, is asking the Scottish health department to encourage doctors' surgeries to open their doors on public holidays.

They are keen to relieve pressure on Scotland’s out-of-hours helpline, NHS24. A spokeswoman for the helpline said the two organisations were discussing how to "utilise the extended hours contract to provide the most flexibility for patients" during periods of extended holidays, such as Easter.
