Queen honours NHS staff

The Queen's Birthday Honours List has named Dr Barbara Hakin, East Midlands health authority chief executive as the recipient of a damehood.

Dr Hakin said after 30 years in the health service she was still "passionate" about her job. She said: "I am very honoured to receive the news of this very prestigious recognition." Professor Sabaratnam Arulkumaran, president of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists received a knighthood for his services to maternity care.
