Regulator rebukes Roche

9th July 2007

The Prescription Medicines Code of Practice Authority has given Swiss pharmaceutical company Roche a "reprimand."

Roche had falsely claimed that a journalist had signed a confidentiality agreement not to publish that she was given £200 to have a meeting with the company.

In 2006 Sarah Boseley wrote an article in the Guardian, reporting that Ketchum, a PR agency on Roche's payroll, had made an offer to pay for Herceptin treatment - a drug made by the company - for an academic with breast cancer.
