Roche chairman to step down
6th March 2013The chairman of Roche, Franz Hummer, has announced that he will not stand for re-election next year.
When he steps down, he will have completed 16 years as chief executive and chairman of the Swiss drugs manufacturer and at 66 years old, he believes that he has reached the point where it is a “good time to hand over to a successor.” Following the surprise announcement at the company’s annual general meeting in Basel, Roche said it would nominate a successor in the autumn and that Humer’s successor would also serve as non-executive chairman to keep the offices of chairman and chief executive separate.
