Royal Cornwall loses three doctors

1st April 2011

The Royal Cornwall Hospitals Trust has lost three doctors from its staffing levels.

It follows a cut in the medical and dental education levy (MADEL), which is to be reduced by 5% in each of the financial years 2011-12, 2012-13 and 2013-14. There were initial fears that this would lead to a 15% reduction in junior doctor’s posts but after negotiations with the SHA for the 2011-12 financial year that reduction is now smaller. The trust has lost two doctors in surgery and one in obstetrics and gynaecology.
