Rugby head injuries unreported

28th July 2010

A BBC investigation has found that the majority of head injuries were not reported by rugby players.

BBC Wales Week in Week Out discovered that only 20% of concussions were reported to authorities. Welsh Rugby Union chairman David Pickering said: "Of course it worries me in terms of they should be fully aware of their own responsibilities. Everybody has a duty of care to look after themselves and if there are issues of concussion then the right process should take place and we've got the guidelines for doing that."
