Salt levels in curry warning

29th April 2010

Research by Consensus Action on Salt and Health (Cash) showed the salt content in some curry dishes was more than the daily recommended limit.

Nearly 800 products in supermarkets, independent shops and takeaways were analysed during the research and while the campaign group warned salt content in side-dishes such as naan bread and chutney could be even higher. It did note that some healthier options were found too. The recommended maximum daily salt intake is 6g a day but researchers found one chicken tikka masala takeaway had 6.8g per portion.
