Scan to detect womb cancer

13th December 2010

Scientists at University College London have developed a specialist ultrasound test which can help to spot womb cancer at an early stage.

Their study of 96 women revealed that the test was 80% in picking up the disease before symptoms began. Ian Jacobs, who led the study, published in the Lancet Oncology, said: "In the future women most at risk, such as those who are obese, have had fewer children, or have high blood pressure, could be recommended for screening."
