School nurses to help pupils with type 1 diabetes

1st September 2011

School nurses will soon be able to provide better support to pupils who have type 1 diabetes.

They will soon have access to a type 1 diabetes toolkit, which has been compiled and released by the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF) and has been put together by the charity to help schools provide support to pupils affected by the condition. It comes as data from the JDRF reveals that in the last 20 years the number of cases of type 1 diabetes among children under five has increased five-fold.
