Schools to offer meal deals

29th December 2011

Schools are to be allowed to encourage pupils to eat healthier lunches by offering meal deals.

At present, schools in England must charge set prices for each item unless they apply for special permission not to but ministers have now announced that their canteens will be able to offer price promotions. The Department for Education said that it would allow schools to offer discounts to pupils who were unlikely to eat school lunches, or year groups where takeā€“up tailed off.
