Senior NHS manager jailed

11th June 2010

A former NHS manager who used NHS funds to buy services for her horses in her private stud business has been jailed for two years and nine months.

Louise Tompkins, formerly interim director of operations at Ealing Hospital Trust and general manager at Hammersmith Hospital Trust – now Imperial College Healthcare Trust - defrauded the NHS of £200,000. Ms Tompkins, 47, of Faygate, Horsham, West Sussex, fabricated and manipulated invoices in order to pay the high costs of her private horse and stud farm business.
