Serco preferred bidder for Suffolk

23rd March 2012

Most NHS community services in Suffolk could be taken over by a private sector firm in a deal worth £140m over three years.

Outsourcing giant Serco has been selected as preferred bidder to take over NHS Suffolk’s general adult, community equipment, and specialist paediatric services. If the deal goes through, it would see the firm running NHS services ranging from community and specialist nursing, to speech and language therapy, to the management of community hospitals in the county with around 1,000 NHS staff transferring to Serco under the contract.
