Sheffield implements digital dictation

9th January 2009

Sheffield Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust has implemented a digital dictation system across five hospitals on two campuses.

Some 1,000 users will be covered by the BigHand digital dictation workflow system. The company claims the roll-out of the technology has allowed the trust to achieve a 10-25% improvement in document turn-around time. The trust points to particular benefits in emergency admissions with digital dictation streamlining the production of discharge summaries and improving turn-around times. Before implementing BigHand, the trust was using analogue tapes.
