Sierra Leone declare public health emergency

1st August 2014

A joint $100m (£59m; 75m Euro) response plan is to be announced by the head of the World Health Organisation and leaders of West African nations affected by the Ebola outbreak.

Ebola has already claimed 729 lives.

A public health emergency has been declared by Sierra Leone's president after 233 people died there.

Unfortunately 90% of people will die if infected with Ebola but if treated early patients will have a better chance of survival.
