Smart phone app to help children lose weight

Research has suggested that anonymous smart phone apps are more effective in helping obese and overweight children to lose weight instead of traditional support groups.

While doctors have in recent years favoured support groups along the lines of the Alcoholics Anonymous pattern, new evidence has pointed to smart phone apps were more effective in young people. It comes at a time that the National Institute for Health and Clinical Excellence issued new guidance recommending that the word 'obese' should not be used to label very overweight people because it is derogatory.
