5th January 2009

BUPA has described the portrayal of soap characters unhealthy lives on television programmes as unrealistic.

It has put together a list of the top 10 least healthy characters in British soaps. Number one in the list is smoker Dot Cotton on the BBC's Eastenders. Dr Peter Mace, BUPA's assistant medical director, said: "Characters who have been smoking for many years have implausibly good health."
