Southend Hospital FT failing to meet standards of care

26th January 2011

Southend University Hospital NHS Foundation Trust is failing to meet essential standards of quality and safety in the services it provides for people with mental health needs, according to the Care Quality Commission.

Following two serious incidents, the regulator inspectors visited the hospital in October and found that staff lacked enough training to give them the skills and knowledge to meet the requirements of people with mental health needs. The trust has since begun to address the issues with staff.
