Spanish get speech technology

30th June 2006

Philips has announced that its speech recognition technology, SpeechMagic, is to be implemented across an entire region of Spain. Local IT provider, Indra, will establish the software in all radiology departments of Spain’s Castilla-La Mancha regional healthcare service.

The introduction of the SpeechMagic software is supported by a European Union initiative (Ykonos) which aims to support the development of digital image-based diagnosis systems. Now in its third phase the Ykonos project implements the installation of equipment for the digitisation, storage and display of radiology images.  The project also sustains a series of support services.
