Spire Healthcare grows business

17th October 2007

The newly formed Spire Healthcare, formerly BUPA hospitals, has announced its plans to grow the business in the private hospital sector.

25 UK sites, previously owned by BUPA, were given new signs to mark the transfer of ownership. Spire will also treat NHS patients at its hospitals through GP referrals, as part of the Choose and Book scheme.

Chief Executive Clare Hollingsworth says the firm is aiming high: "Becoming a stand alone healthcare company, separate from BUPA, will give us greater freedom to develop our business and offer more services to more people.
