Staff strike at NHS trust in Devon

6th January 2010

More than 200 cleaners, porters and cooks employed by contractor Sodexo have staged a 48-hour strike at North Devon Healthcare Trust.

They want the immediate implementation of Agenda for Change conditions, which they claim have been withheld since 2006. The trust has offered to introduce full sick pay and annual leave payments from 1 January and to move to terms of employment that are ‘no less favourable overall than Agenda for Change’, from 1 April. But UNISON, which represents the staff, has rejected this.
