Stafford Hospital gets further warning

11th October 2011

The Care Quality Commission has issued a further warning notice to Stafford Hospital and said patient care could be at risk.

The hospital, which is the subject of a public inquiry at present, has been warned about staff shortages in its Accident and Emergency department. When the CQC visited the hospital last month it found not enough trained staff on duty. Andrea Gordon, regional director for CQC in the West Midlands and East Midlands said the hospital had taken "insufficient action" to resolve staffing problems.
