Stepping up to primary care leadership

13th August 2008

The Royal College of Nursing and Bedfordshire Primary Care Trust has established a new leadership development to help nurses and therapists develop new skills and improve patient care.

Ten Bedfordshire nurses and therapists - with nursing, speech and language therapy, physiotherapy and occupational therapy backgrounds - were among the first in the country to complete a new style of leadership programme over a six-month investigation, which looked into key areas of work in the PCT. The approach sees learning taken out of the classroom and into the PCT's day-to-day work.
