'Stroke risk' from antipsychotic drug29th August 2008
UK scientists say that more people than previously thought could be at higher risk of having a stroke caused by their antipsychotic drugs.
Research from experts at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine and published in the British Medical Journal suggest that all forms of antipsychotic drugs raise the risk in all patients. While such drugs – used to control symptoms of disorders such as schizophrenia and depression - were capable of transforming lives, mental health charities have said that they need to be closely monitored.
