Supermarket's instore GP

21st February 2008

A supermarket in Greater Manchester has started to offer doctor appointments.

Doctors from three different surgeries will work from a consulting room at a Sainsbury’s supermarket in Heaton Park, near Prestwich, in what is believed to be the first initiative of its kind in the country. It is part of a £126,000 pilot scheme by Heywood, Middleton and Rochdale Primary Care Trust to provide extended-hours medical care and will allow patients to book appointments on selected evenings and weekend days.
