Surge in norovirus closures

According to new figures, hospital ward closures in Scotland caused by the norovirus have increased nearly three times over a four-year period.

The data, which was provided as part of a Freedom of Information request by the Labour party,  revealed that over the past year there were 318 ward closures in comparison to 107 in 2006/07. The number of cases of the bug went up from 1,026 to 3,166 over the four years.
