Swindon hospital mortality rates fall

31st March 2009

The number of deaths at the Great Western Hospital in Wiltshire in Swindon have fallen, after a report said it had "one of the highest" mortality rates in England.

Sue Rowley, director of nursing at the hospital, said: "Our standardised mortality rate at the moment is 99.7 and 100 is the national average."

"We have done a lot of work and we will always continue to use whatever information is available to us in order to improve."
