Swine flu virus in boarding school near Bath

5th June 2009

The Dorset and Somerset Health Protection Unit has confirmed that a pupil from a boarding school in Bath has been sent home after being diagnosed with swine flu.

Other pupils at the Downside School have been prescribed "preventative" medication and the Unit said the danger to other pupils was "low". The school, which has 430 pupils between the ages of nine and 18, said it was staying open, although this status will be reviewed by NHS Somerset and the Health Protection Agency.
