Team to tackle infant mortality

23rd April 2009

The Department of Health has launched a National Support Team that will offer guidance to help primary care trusts tackle infant mortality.

The team will visit 43 areas across England with the highest rates of infant mortality to deliver intensive four-day programmes of interviews and workshops tailored to local needs. The team, which has already visited a number of locations including north London and Yorkshire, will look to tackle maternal obesity, smoking, teenage pregnancy rates, as well as housing and child poverty issues.
