Technology to fight hospital infections

28th November 2011

University Hospital Southampton NHS Foundation Trust has carried out an evaluation of a new kind of laundry system aimed at preventing hospital-acquired infections.

The report, Showcase hospitals report number eight: OTEX laundry system, looked at the amount of money involved and the results of using ozone disinfection for cleaning. The report has been compiled to include a business case template to help other trusts who are considering a trial of the new system. The system fulfils the requirements of reducing carbon footprint in the NHS by 10% from the 2007 level by 2015.
