Text service at Barts cuts DNAs18th January 2012
Barts and the London Hospital has reported improved appointment attendance following the introduction of a mobile text messaging service.
It brought in Orange’s Health Gateway in August 2010 to tackle missed appointments with the service allowing the trust to send personalised appointment reminders to patients via SMS. With the Barts’ appointment reminder services, the patient can then reply with requests to either cancel or reschedule appointments. The trust has been sending out 2,000 texts a day, with on average 100 replies with requests to change appointments.
