The £50m private hospital

20th November 2007

A new £50m hospital in Plymouth, Devon will be designed by award-winning architects Foster and Partners and could make profits for the staff who work in it. .

The private hospital will be "co-owned and run by the staff" working there, following a model similar to that of the John Lewis Partnership. It would treat both private and NHS patients.

A spokesperson for Plymouth PCT said: "It will give people greater choice in how, where and when they're treated."
