The benefits of tomatoes

The Telegraph looks at how a new book by Ron Levin, 'The Red Bodyguard', is devoted to extolling the remarkable health benefits of the tomato.

Levin, a pharmacist, collated many years' research into the fruit. In addition to containing high levels of vitamin C and beta-carotene, Levin's book shows tomatoes "are the richest source of an exceptionally potent antioxidant called lycopene...A single lycopene molecule can neutralise 13 free radicals".
